A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

For Weddings, Roses en masse can create a truly elegant bouquet, yet one should not underestimate this well used and loved flower..

Not only do Roses look wonderful in their natural form, they also create the elusive Carmen Rose. We develop this design by the careful removal of petals from one flower, only to delicately reattach them to another - thus forming this extraordinarily large flower head!
This also looks fabulous with Longiflorum Lilies - creating the Carmen Lily.

We always want to ensure our Brides and Grooms receive their perfect flowers and this exclusive design, (made especially for you in Roses of your choice,) will certainly turn heads at your Wedding!

For our Carmen Rose, which is pictured here in a hand-made wire frame, we used Avalanche 'Sorbet' which has blowsy blooms and multi-tonal petals.

All materials will be included for just £30 per person, plus drinks and nibbles!

Pick up a leaflet in the shop or call us for more details - but be quick, there are only eight spaces available for each class!

An Inspirational Demo..

Yesterday evening saw a demonstration of the amazing Dutch Hanneke Frankema at work. Hanneke is an award winning designer, Florist, shop owner and competition judge, who it seems, has a penchant for cutting up rather gorgeous, (and dare I say it, rather expensive,) plants.

In fact, she uses planted materials so much, especially Ceropegia, that she's growing a whole wall of it in her new shop to cut off when she needs it!

This first design, (which is definitely one of our favourites,) uses Rosa 'Avalanche', Hypericum, Ornathogalum and Phalenopsis Orchids which were cut from their plant! It seems a shame to cut the Orchids, but they do look stunning in this piece.

How lovely is this for Christmas? Hanneke has used baubles as mini-vases for an assortment of mini Gerberas, Eucharis, Cyclamens, Ornathogalems and - wait for it - Carnations!

This was a huge design - the largest of the night! Using Banana sticks and water vials as a structure in a black glass vase, Hanneke used Rosa 'Avalanche,' Amaryllis, Longiflorum Lily and Anthuriums in amongst Steel Grass for a very modern design.

We're loving nearly all of the work we saw at the demo - and will be bringing aspects of the Dutch design into the shop - although we really aren't convinced by these hanging Heliconia vellerigera 'King Kong!!'

Congratulations! the lovely Layla and Matthew!

White 'Naomi' Rose buttonholes with 'Ocean' Hydrangea sprigs..

Yellow Phalenopsis Orchid buttonhole with Hypericum Berries and Steel Grass detailing.

..and last but not least, Laylas beautiful Rose bouquet. We used Rosa 'Grand Prix' and Rosa Spray 'Red Sensation' for a luxurious hand-tied design.

Wishing you both a wonderful and happy Marriage.

The leaves are falling.. Autumn is here!

This season is all about burning reds, ochres and oranges - and, even though you all know how much we love pinks and lilacs, we're willing to fill the shop with these gorgeous Autumnal shades, just so that you can enjoy them at home!

Red 'Naomi' Roses, Orange Ilex Berries, 'Carnival' Leucospermum and the ever eye-catching 'Tom Pierce' Blooms are our favourites at the moment - keep an eye out for these blooms in special designs in our shop around Halloween..WOoooh!

Weddings are still frequent at this time of year, so why not show your love of the season with a 'by design' corsage or buttonhole? With exquisite detail, we think these add a little extra 'wow' factor!

Interiors and Flowers have a shiny new blog! What do you think?

We're hoping to be able to show you more of our Wedding work on here, as well as the day to day happenings of the shop. Plus, there will be information about our new FLOWER SCHOOL WORKSHOPS later on this week.

Now though, it's a busy day ahead!
